Ohio Village: Step Off the Highway Into an 1890s Town

Behind the Ohio History Center sits a town unstuck in time. Ohio Village recreates an 1890s Ohio community at the crossroads of the century — blacksmith, general store, schoolhouse, bank, barber, and a town hall where costumed interpreters debate the issues of 1898 as if the railroad just arrived.

Visitors can watch a vintage base ball game played by 1860s rules by the Ohio Village Muffins, print a poster at the press shop, and time their visit to seasonal festivals, from Victorian Christmas to summer markets. The village opens seasonally, typically May through September plus special events.

It’s living history done the Ohio way: hands-on, good-humored and quietly educational.

History books tell. Ohio Village lets you ask questions — and get answers in period dress.
