Chicago’s iconic lakefront is getting ready for one of the most heartfelt celebrations of the year. Navy Pier invites everyone to celebrate Día de los Muertos on Saturday, November 1, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with an afternoon full of art, cultural experiences and community activities honoring this beautiful Mexican tradition. Best of all, admission is completely free.
Starting October 24, visitors can take part in a touching community tradition: the community ofrenda in the Family Pavilion. Anyone is welcome to honor a loved one by contributing a photo or a meaningful memento to the shared altar, turning remembrance into a collective celebration of life and memory.
During the November 1 celebration, guests can also decorate a wooden heart in honor of someone they remember, enjoy art and cultural programming, and soak in the warm, festive atmosphere that only this tradition can create. It is a perfect outing for families, friends and anyone who wants to experience the richness of Mexican culture right on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Navy Pier, the nonprofit landmark at 600 E. Grand Avenue, continues to bring Chicago together with events that celebrate the city’s diversity. Mark your calendar and bring a photo of someone dear — this is a celebration you will not want to miss.
