The Charlotte Symphony has been the city’s soundtrack since 1932 — the largest and oldest performing arts organization in the Carolinas, performing for more than 130,000 people a year. From the Belk Theater stage, its seasons pair the great symphonic pillars — Beethoven to Rachmaninoff — with film scores, pops celebrations and collaborations that keep the repertoire breathing.
The Symphony refuses to stay in the concert hall: its Summer Pops series turns Symphony Park in SouthPark into the city’s happiest picnic concert, KnightSounds mixes the orchestra with DJs and craft beer at the Knight Theater, and its youth orchestras and Project Harmony programs put instruments in hundreds of Charlotte children’s hands.
A great city deserves a great orchestra playing everywhere. Charlotte’s does — in the hall, in the park, and in the schools.
