Discovery Place Kids Huntersville: A Whole Town at Kid Scale

In downtown Huntersville, a whole town runs on imagination and stands about four feet tall. Discovery Place Kids is Discovery Place’s brilliant children’s museum: a kid-scale Main Street where small citizens run the grocery store, climb the fire truck, build in the construction zone and splash through the water tables.

Everything is scaled for the under-10 imagination — a pretend Piedmont town with a farm, a race car nod to the region’s NASCAR soul, and daily programs of story times, science demos and art messes. Toddler areas keep the littlest explorers safe from the big-kid traffic.

Rainy days and birthday parties have made it a north-metro institution. It’s the museum where Charlotte’s youngest citizens hold their first jobs — firefighter, grocer, engineer — before lunch.
