Named for the Charlotte-born master of collage, Romare Bearden Park spreads 5.4 green acres through the heart of Uptown — a living artwork in the Third Ward, framed by the skyline and the lights of Truist Field next door. Its design borrows Bearden’s own visual language: bold blocks of lawn, garden rooms and gathering spaces.
The park’s signatures include a shimmering waterfall wall kids can’t resist, the Big Moon and Spiral Odyssey sculptures, and a grand event lawn built for concerts, movie nights and festivals. On game days it becomes the city’s happiest pregame; on lunch hours, Uptown’s green cafeteria.
Bearden said art should make the everyday marvelous. His park — picnics, weddings, drum circles and all — does exactly that for downtown Charlotte.
