Game Day With Kids in Uptown: Panthers, Hornets, Knights and Charlotte FC

Few American downtowns pack this much family sports joy into a few blocks. Uptown Charlotte gives families four teams, four stadiums and four completely different kinds of perfect day — all walkable, all loud with happy.

The Knights at Truist Field are the budget-friendly champions: minor-league baseball with skyline views, playground energy and fireworks nights. The Hornets at Spectrum Center bring NBA sparkle with Hugo the Hornet working the crowd; the Panthers turn Bank of America Stadium into a sea of Keep Pounding blue on fall Sundays (Sir Purr is a kid magnet); and Charlotte FC’s supporters have built one of MLS’s great party atmospheres, surprisingly family-welcoming in the lower bowl.

Start them at the Knights, graduate to the big leagues. Uptown raises sports fans the delicious way — one nacho helmet at a time.
