Washington, D.C. is ready to bloom for the holidays. The U.S. Botanic Garden’s beloved annual show, Season’s Greenings: National Parks and Historic Places, returns to the Conservatory and outdoor gardens from November 26, 2026, through January 3, 2027, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with poinsettias, evergreens and a delightful model train display.
Outdoors, trains will chug from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily around recreations of iconic parks and historic places built from hundreds of different plant parts. Look for the Grand Canyon landscape, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, the Statue of Liberty, Yellowstone’s Old Faithful Inn, the Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site, plus Denali, Mesa Verde cliff dwellings, Mount Rushmore and many more miniature wonders to discover together.
Inside the Conservatory, the Garden’s famous collection of D.C. landmarks made from natural materials returns, including the Lincoln Memorial, the U.S. Capitol and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, surrounded by poinsettias ranging from heirloom favorites to newly developed varieties grown by the Garden’s horticulture team.
Admission is free and no tickets are required. The show is open daily, closed December 25, and the Garden stays open late until 8 p.m. on December 8, 10, 15, 17, 22 and 29 for festive evening visits. Weekdays tend to be calmer, strollers are welcome, and a sensory-friendly morning is planned for December 5. It is a warm, colorful outing for families, garden lovers and visitors exploring the National Mall this season.
