MOLAA Celebrates Día de los Muertos with a Free Family Festival This Sunday

Los Angeles is invited to remember with color, music and marigolds. This Sunday, October 25, the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Long Beach celebrates its annual Día de los Muertos Festival, a free family celebration that fills the museum with altars, art, live performance and hands-on creativity from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The heart of the day is the community altar, where visitors are invited to honor loved ones, surrounded by exhibitions that connect the holiday to contemporary Latin American and Latino art. Throughout the festival, families can join art workshops, enjoy live music and folklórico dance, browse artisan vendors and taste traditional flavors — a joyful introduction to one of the most meaningful traditions in Latino culture.

The festival also continues MOLAA’s mission as the only museum in the United States dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American art: opening its doors wide, free of charge, so that a cultural celebration belongs to everyone. Organizers recommend arriving early, as the Día de los Muertos Festival is one of the museum’s most beloved — and busiest — days of the year.

MOLAA is at 628 Alamitos Ave., Long Beach. Admission to the festival is free. More details are on the museum’s official calendar at molaa.org.
