Houston’s holiday season gets an extra sparkle of hometown pride this year. Happy City News is delighted to share that DTH, a Houston dance training program, brings its first-ever Nutcracker Festival to the Grace Event Lawn at Discovery Green on Saturday, November 14, 2026 — a free celebration built entirely around young local dancers.
More than 500 students from schools and dance programs across the Greater Houston area will take the outdoor stage in a joyful, community-wide performance inspired by Tchaikovsky’s beloved Nutcracker. Instead of a single cast, the festival turns the spotlight on hundreds of children and teens performing together in the heart of downtown.
The choice of venue makes the day even more special. Discovery Green, the 12-acre park across from the George R. Brown Convention Center, is Houston’s favorite front lawn for free cultural gatherings, and the Grace Event Lawn gives families room to spread a blanket, cheer on the performers and soak up the skyline views.
Better still, the festival is completely free to attend. Whether you have a young dancer in the family or simply love seeing Houston’s arts community shine, the DTH Nutcracker Festival promises a heartwarming start to the holiday season — ballet slippers, big dreams and all.
