The longest-running music program in television history has a front door on Willie Nelson Boulevard. ACL Live at the Moody Theater — home of Austin City Limits since 2011 — seats 2,750 fans in the largest studio audience in American TV, beneath the skyline-view stage where everyone from Radiohead to Willie himself has played the tapings.
Beyond tapings, the Moody is downtown Austin’s premier concert hall, hosting 100+ shows a year in a room engineered for television sound — which means every seat hears like the broadcast. Willie’s statue out front, guitar in hand, is the city’s most-visited photo shrine.
ACL began in 1974 with a simple belief: Texas music deserved a stage. Fifty years on, the stage is a landmark and the belief built a city’s identity.
