The Atlanta BeltLine: Walk, Bike and Smile Through the City

One of America’s most exciting urban projects is also one of its happiest: the Atlanta BeltLine, a 22-mile loop of trails built on old railroad corridors, connecting neighborhoods, parks, and people — all for free.

The Eastside Trail is the star: a smooth, wide path from the Old Fourth Ward up to Piedmont Park, lined with colorful public art, murals, pocket parks, and some of the city’s best people-watching. Joggers, cyclists, skaters, and stroller-pushing families share the trail from sunrise to sunset, and free art installations pop up along the way.

It is perfect for active families, cyclists, and art lovers. Tip: rent a bike and ride the full Eastside Trail at sunset — then stop for a picnic in Piedmont Park at the northern end.

The BeltLine keeps growing: when complete, the full loop will connect 45 neighborhoods. Along the way you will find free fitness stations, playgrounds, and even an outdoor skate park. It is Atlanta’s living room, and everyone has a seat.
