Inside the Smithsonian’s Arts and Industries Building area on the National Mall, Discovery Theater has been DC’s stage for young audiences for decades: puppet shows, storytelling, dance and interactive plays designed for children from preschool through elementary school, many celebrating the cultures of the world in both English and Spanish.
School-day and weekend performances run in short, kid-friendly lengths, tickets are gentle on family budgets, and the Mall’s museums wait right outside for the rest of the day. For many DC children, a Discovery Theater show is their very first theater memory – colorful, musical and made exactly their size.
