Florida Waters: ZooTampa’s New World of Springs and Swamps

ZooTampa’s newest adventure is a love letter to its own state. Florida Waters, the zoo’s new Florida wildlife area, immerses families in the ecosystems that make the Sunshine State wild — spring runs, cypress swamps and the animals that define them.

Kids meet Florida panthers and black bears, watch otters work the water, and come eye-to-eye with the manatees in the zoo’s care next door, while splashy play elements and shaded boardwalks keep the learning cool. The area deepens ZooTampa’s conservation story: nearly everything here is a species the zoo actively works to protect in the wild.

For Florida kids, it’s their own backyard, glorified. For visitors, it’s the real Florida in one joyful lap.

The state’s wildest classroom just got a new wing — bring the class.
