The Florida Aquarium is Tampa’s most splashable museum — and with kids, order matters. Start at the Wetlands Trail while little legs are fresh: otters at play, gators below the boardwalk, birds overhead. Then dive the Coral Reef gallery for the shark-and-turtle show at the big window, timing your visit to a dive presentation if you can.
Midday belongs to the penguins (arrive for a feeding talk) and the touch experiences — stingrays and moon jellies — before the energy reset at the outdoor Splash Pad, where swimsuits earn their keep. The 4-D theater and the aquarium’s Wild Dolphin Cruise (a separate ticket from the dock outside) extend the day for older kids.
It’s the Riverwalk’s best family anchor: air-conditioned, awe-heavy and nap-inducing by 3 p.m.
