Only in Tampa does a football stadium come with its own pirate ship. Raymond James Stadium — “Ray Jay” to locals — is the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, crowned by the 103-foot, 43-ton pirate ship in the north end zone whose cannons boom for every Bucs score.
The 65,000-seat stadium has hosted three Super Bowls (including the Bucs’ home-field triumph in Super Bowl LV, a first in NFL history), the College Football Playoff National Championship, WrestleMania and stadium concerts from Beyoncé to Kenny Chesney. Its pirate-themed Buccaneer Cove was built for young fans.
On fall Sundays, the parking lots become a city of tailgates flying the red and pewter.
Fire the cannons — Raymond James is Tampa’s loudest landmark.
