In the Straz Center’s intimate Shimberg Playhouse, Jobsite Theater has spent more than 25 years being Tampa’s fearless stage — the resident company staging everything from Shakespeare with a punk streak to world premieres, cult musicals and its beloved annual holiday irreverence.
Jobsite’s formula is proximity and nerve: 100-odd seats, actors within arm’s reach, seasons that pair a classic reimagined with something you’ve never heard of and will never forget. Its Halloween and late-night programming has made it the thinking theatergoer’s cult favorite, while its new-play work feeds Tampa’s growing playwright scene.
Subscriptions are famously affordable — the company guards its “theatre for the people” mission fiercely.
Big tours fill Morsani Hall. Jobsite fills the Shimberg with electricity. Tampa needs both, and knows it.
