Two violins. One viola. Zero boundaries. Black Violin — the classical-meets-hip-hop duo that has redefined what string instruments can do — takes the stage at the Straz Center’s Carol Morsani Hall on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
For two decades, Kev Marcus and Wil B have fused classical training with hip-hop beats, building a sound that moves effortlessly from Bach to beats and back again. Their live show is part concert, part masterclass in possibility: a high-energy performance that has won them fans from concert halls to the Billboard charts, along with a devoted following among young musicians who see themselves in the duo’s story.
Why go
Black Violin’s concerts are famous for their electricity — virtuoso strings over driving rhythms, carrying an uplifting message about breaking stereotypes and defying expectations. It is the rare show that delights classical purists, hip-hop fans, and first-time concertgoers alike, and the grandeur of Carol Morsani Hall is the perfect setting for it.
The Straz Center for the Performing Arts, on the banks of the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa, is one of the largest performing arts complexes in the Southeast, and its 2,600-seat Morsani Hall regularly hosts the biggest names in music, Broadway, and dance.
