Two days, one river, endless sunshine: here’s Tampa’s perfect first weekend. Friday: land, drop the bags downtown, and walk the Riverwalk at golden hour — Curtis Hixon Park, the glowing Tampa Museum of Art — then ride the free streetcar to Ybor City for dinner on Seventh Avenue.
Saturday is Tampa’s greatest hits: the Florida Aquarium in the morning, lunch at the markets, the Tampa Bay History Center’s pirate gallery, and sunset on Bayshore Boulevard, the world’s longest sidewalk. Evening: Tampa Theatre’s marquee or a Straz Center show, depending on your mood (both, if you’re ambitious).
Sunday: ZooTampa’s manatees or a Plant Museum morning among the minaretes — pardon, minarets — then brunch and a Ballast Point pier stroll before the airport.
Forty-eight hours in, Tampa stops being a layover and becomes a plan to return. It happens every weekend.
