Seattle Shines as a World Cup Host: $889 Million Economic Impact

Seattle did it again — and the numbers are in! More than a month after the final whistle of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, Visit Seattle released the official economic impact report, and it’s spectacular: the tournament generated $889 million for Seattle and King County across 22 days of matches, watch parties, and unforgettable moments.

That figure includes $109 million in state and local tax revenue, directly supporting key programs like housing, social services, and the arts. The tournament also supported about 20,000 jobs across the region — a huge win for local workers and families.

But the impact goes beyond the numbers. From the pages of The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, and TIME, Seattle earned standout praise as a premier host city, shining on the global stage for the entire world to see.

“These numbers are a testament to the power of large events and the hospitality industry, and how both can work together to drive economic prosperity in our city and region,” said Kelly Saling, Chief Business Officer at Visit Seattle.

With fans from every corner of the globe cheering at Lumen Field and gathering at watch parties across the city, Seattle proved it can host the world — and host it beautifully. The exposure our city earned will keep driving visitation for years to come. Go Seattle!
