Seattle Lights Up for Diwali: Free Community Celebration at the Asian Art Museum on Oct 17

Seattle is getting ready to celebrate the Festival of Lights. On Saturday, October 17, the Seattle Asian Art Museum will host a Diwali Community Celebration from 11 am to 4 pm, and everyone is invited to join in.

The free celebration is part of the Seattle Art Museum’s Community Celebrations series, created in collaboration with community partners. Visitors can look forward to a joyful afternoon of hands-on art-making activities, live performances, dance workshops and unexpected art experiences, all inspired by the traditions of Diwali.

The event is designed to be fun for the whole family, with activities that appeal to all ages. And there’s even more good news: October 17 is also a Free Third Saturday at the Seattle Asian Art Museum, so guests can explore the museum’s galleries at no cost from 10 am to 5 pm.

Diwali honors the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, and this celebration is a wonderful way to experience the colors, sounds and flavors of one of South Asia’s most beloved festivals, right here in Seattle.

No registration is needed. Just come, bring the family, and enjoy an afternoon of light, art and community in Volunteer Park.
