San Francisco’s Holiday Ice Rink Returns to Union Square Nov. 4-Jan. 18

San Francisco’s favorite outdoor skating tradition is back. The Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square returns for another magical season, open daily from November 4, 2026 through January 18, 2027 in the heart of downtown.

Set beside the square’s towering holiday tree at 333 Post Street, near Geary and Powell streets, the rink invites families, friends and first-time skaters to glide under the city lights. Hour-long sessions start every 90 minutes, and general admission is $22 — $17 for kids 8 and under — with skate rental included in both prices.

The season is packed with joyful special events, including Drag On Ice, Silent Skate and the Polar Bear Skate. Beginners are especially welcome: the Learn to Skate program offers free lessons with professional instructors through a lottery, and entry for the December-January lessons is open from November 2 to November 23, 2026.

Tickets are on sale now, and popular holiday sessions fill quickly, so booking ahead is a happy idea. Lace up, take a spin, and let Union Square turn a winter day in San Francisco into a celebration on ice.
