Golden Gate Park: A Thousand Acres of Green Joy

Imagine a place where you can stroll through gardens, paddle a boat on a lake, and visit world-class museums — all inside one giant park.

Golden Gate Park stretches more than 1,000 acres across the heart of San Francisco, from the panhandle all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Inside you’ll find the Conservatory of Flowers, the San Francisco Botanical Garden, Stow Lake with its rowboats and waterfalls, and vast lawns perfect for picnics. What was once sand dunes is today the city’s green living room, open to everyone, every day.

It’s perfect for families, joggers, Sunday picnickers, and anyone who needs a breath of fresh air. Tip: rent a surrey or a bike at the park entrance to cover more ground, and pack a picnic — Sundays on the closed-to-cars JFK Promenade are pure San Francisco joy.
