Lightscape Returns to San Francisco Botanical Garden: One Million Lights for Families, November 20 to January 3

San Francisco families have a sparkling date to save this winter. Lightscape returns to the San Francisco Botanical Garden from November 20, 2026, to January 3, 2027, and the Gardens of Golden Gate Park promise it is back and bigger than you remember.

The after-dark experience turns the Garden into a wonderland along a magical one-mile trail lit by 1 million lights, with all-new art, color and sound. Families stroll past dazzling installations, dramatic colors, otherworldly lighted sculptures and water features, right in the heart of Golden Gate Park. The Gardens describe Lightscape as a festive visual and sensory experience for family and friends, and recommend allowing at least 45 minutes to enjoy the trail at your own pace.

Tickets start at $32 for adults and $20 for youth ages 5 to 17, while children 4 and under enter free. Garden members save 20 percent, with adult member tickets starting at $27 and youth at $17, and members also get access to a preview party on November 19. In a welcome touch for every family budget, a limited number of Museums For All tickets are available every night for $10 for guests with an EBT, SNAP or Medi-Cal card.

The route is designed to be easy to navigate, with paved paths and gentle slopes, accessible restrooms and a limited number of wheelchairs to lend. Festive food and beverages will be available on site. Entry is in 15-minute windows and popular dates are expected to sell out quickly, so booking ahead is strongly recommended. The Botanical Garden is at 1199 9th Avenue, and Muni, walking and biking are recommended.
