Beside the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Southeast Portland, the Hellenic-American Cultural Center & Museum preserves a century of Greek life in Oregon — the first museum of its kind on the West Coast.
Its galleries glow with embroidered costumes, Orthodox icons, village tools and family photographs tracing the journey from Greek villages to Portland’s coffee shops, bakeries and fishing boats. It’s the permanent home of the spirit behind the Portland Greek Festival, which has fed the city loukoumades and music every fall since 1952.
Small, heartfelt and volunteer-run, the museum welcomes school groups and curious neighbors alike — a reminder that Portland’s culture is a mosaic, and every tile has a story.
