A Quieter Morning of Discovery: Sensory Sensitive Science Hours at Pittsburgh’s Kamin Science Center, November 15

Pittsburgh families looking for a calmer museum morning have a date to circle. The Kamin Science Center — the North Shore landmark long loved as the Carnegie Science Center — hosts its Sensory Sensitive Science Hours on Sunday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The special morning is designed as a sensory-friendly science center experience, opening the museum’s hands-on exhibits in a more relaxed setting for guests who benefit from a quieter, gentler visit. It is part of the center’s ongoing commitment to welcoming visitors of all abilities, and a lovely way for families to explore at their own pace before the regular crowds arrive.

There is plenty to discover inside the five-story center on the Ohio River: robot demos, a miniature railroad village, the historic USS Requin submarine moored outside, and the Rangos Giant Cinema. A sensory-friendly morning lets young scientists linger at the exhibits they love — building, splashing, launching and experimenting — with room to breathe.

The Kamin Science Center sits at One Allegheny Avenue, next to Acrisure Stadium, and is easy to reach by car or by the T, which stops right at the center. Families can find details and plan their visit on the museum’s official events calendar.
