Handel’s ‘Partenope’ Brings Baroque Comedy to the CAPA Theater in January

Romantic warfare has never been this witty. Pittsburgh Opera continues its 88th season with Handel’s Partenope at the Pittsburgh CAPA School Theater on January 23, 26, 29 and 31, 2027 — a comedy of errors, disguises and dueling wits from the master of Baroque opera.

Queen Partenope of Naples juggles suitors like state secrets, while the disguised Eurimene scrambles every plan. Handel’s score sparkles with coloratura fireworks, and the intimate CAPA Theater puts the audience inside the intrigue — a perfect midwinter evening of love, strategy and glorious singing.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. (2 p.m. on Sunday, January 31) at the CAPA School Theater downtown. Pittsburgh Opera’s season subscriptions and single tickets are at pittsburghopera.org.
