Phoenix will gather in gratitude and art on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, when the Heard Museum hosts its 14th Annual American Indian Veterans Day celebration and Sunset Tribute, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the museum grounds at 2301 N. Central Avenue. Veterans and active-duty military members with valid ID, plus one guest, receive free museum admission for this special day.
The newest addition this year is the Veterans Day Art Market, where visitors can shop one-of-a-kind artwork, meet inspiring veteran artists and watch artist demonstrations in the Steele Auditorium. The daytime program also includes stories shared by veterans, family art activities and a screening of the film Native Words, Native Warriors in the Harnett Theater. Veteran artists interested in taking part can apply through November 9 at 5 p.m.
From 5 to 7 p.m., the celebration closes with the Sunset Tribute at the American Indian Veterans National Memorial, marking the memorial’s 14th anniversary. The keynote speaker is Michael Naranjo of Santa Clara Pueblo, an acclaimed Tewa sculptor and Vietnam veteran whose story of resilience has inspired audiences around the world. Established in 2012, the memorial ā the first of its kind ā honors the service of Native Americans in the U.S. Armed Forces, and Happy City News invites Phoenix families to share in this moving, uplifting tribute.
