The Heard Museum introduces Phoenix families to the Indigenous cultures of the Southwest with a storyteller’s heart: family guides, hands-on activity rooms and programs that let children try weaving, pottery patterns and art inspired by Native artists.
Kids light up at the museum’s beloved collections — hundreds of katsina dolls, vibrant contemporary art and the boarding school history told with honesty upstairs — while family days and festivals fill the courtyard with music, dance and artist demonstrations.
In the city’s museum corridor on Central Avenue, the Heard gives children something priceless: the true first stories of the land they call home.
