The Whitney Museum of American Art invites New Yorkers to an inspiring evening of art and conversation: the annual Walter Annenberg Lecture, this year delivered by acclaimed artist and curator Alex Da Corte on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 6:30 pm.
Da Corte, a Venezuelan-American artist known for his joyful, Pop-inspired and surreal works, is also the co-curator of the Museum’s upcoming retrospective Roy Lichtenstein: Like New, which opens on October 11. For the Annenberg Lecture, he will share his personal engagement with Lichtenstein’s legacy, blending his experience as both an artist and a curator.
After the presentation, Da Corte will join Scott Rothkopf, the Whitney’s Alice Pratt Brown Director, in a live conversation about art, influence, and the images that shape our culture. The event takes place in the Susan and John Hess Family Theater and will also be streamed online via Zoom, with live captioning available. The program will be recorded and later shared on the Whitney’s YouTube channel.
Tickets are required: $20 for adults, and $15 for members, seniors, and students. Capacity is limited, so advance purchase is strongly encouraged. The Walter Annenberg Annual Lecture was established in honor of the late Walter H. Annenberg to deepen the country’s understanding of its art and culture.
