The Metropolitan Museum of Art has opened a landmark exhibition: Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous, on view October 4, 2026 through January 31, 2027 at The Met Fifth Avenue. It is the first major New York presentation devoted to either artist in more than 20 years.
The exhibition charts the full arc of the careers of Lee Krasner (1908–1984) and Jackson Pollock (1912–1956) in parallel — artistic peers and life partners whose practices were distinct yet deeply connected. More than 120 paintings, works on paper and ephemera from over 80 lenders trace their parallel lives, from the 1930s through the postwar years, in 12 chapters.
Landmark works include Krasner’s Composition (1949), The Seasons (1957) and Combat (1965), alongside Pollock’s Number 1, 1950 (Lavender Mist) and The Deep (1953). Major lenders include MoMA, the Whitney, Tate, Centre Pompidou and the Art Institute of Chicago.
