There’s a new star at Audubon Zoo, and she loves nothing more than an afternoon nap in the Louisiana sunshine. Meet Missy, an eight-year-old California sea lion who joined the zoo’s sea lion colony and is already winning hearts across New Orleans.
Missy arrived from California and has settled right into her new home, where she joins two 14-year-old sea lions named Roux and Zoey. Her keepers describe her as incredibly smart and endlessly curious: she loves taking naps, sunning herself in the afternoon, and diving into training sessions where she investigates every new thing in her habitat.
Visitors can watch the three sea lion ladies swim and train every day, and on weekends, guests can chat directly with the sea lion keepers to learn all about these remarkable animals. It’s one more reason a family day at Audubon Zoo is always a good idea.
