All Aboard! Audubon Zoo’s Beloved Train Returns as the Wonders of Nature Express

All aboard for good times! One of the most beloved traditions at Audubon Zoo is back on the tracks: the Zoo train has returned with a brand-new name, a fresh look, and the same old magic that generations of visitors have loved.

Now called the Audubon Wonders of Nature Express, the train made its inaugural run on August 20 with a very special send-off: young guests from Manning Family Children’s were on board, and legendary New Orleans musician Kermit Ruffins gave the official “All Aboard!” call. Quite a welcome back party!

The ride keeps everything families cherished about it — a narrated, scenic loop past the Zoo’s major landmarks, lush landscapes, and favorite animal habitats — wrapped in a refreshed experience that feels new from the first whistle. And the best part: the train runs seven days a week with all-day access, so you can hop on whenever the moment is right during your visit.

“The return of the train is something we’ve been looking forward to sharing with our community,” said Daine Appleberry, Senior Vice President & Managing Director of Audubon Zoo & Park. “For many, riding the train is a cherished tradition, and we’re thrilled to welcome both longtime guests and first-time visitors aboard for a new adventure.”

Train tickets are $5 for Audubon All-Access or Zoo-Only members and $6.50 for non-members, available at the Zoo’s front gate, the Membership Window, or directly at the train ticket booth.
