A New Thanksgiving Tradition Rolls: New Orleans Thanksgiving Parade Returns November 26

New Orleans is adding a delicious new reason to gather on Thanksgiving morning. The 2026 New Orleans Thanksgiving Parade rolls through downtown on Thursday, November 26, giving families a festive way to start the holiday before the turkey even goes in the oven.

Now in its second year, the parade is presented by The Eliza Jane hotel together with the Krewe of Orpheus, the superkrewe famous for its musical, star-studded Mardi Gras processions. Organizers promise a joyful, family-friendly spectacle in the heart of the city, with the color, pageantry and brass-band spirit that New Orleans brings to every celebration, this time with a harvest-season twist.

The parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Canal and Baronne streets. From there it rolls along Canal Street, turns onto Tchoupitoulas Street and continues onto Poydras Street, finishing at The Eliza Jane on Magazine Street, where the celebration wraps up around 1:30 p.m.

Best of all, the parade is free to watch. Spectators can claim a spot along Canal Street early, coffee in hand, and enjoy floats and performers passing some of downtown’s most recognizable corners. It is an easy outing for grandparents, kids and visiting relatives alike, and it leaves the whole afternoon free for football, family and second helpings.

Thanksgiving weekend is already one of the most spirited times of year in New Orleans, and a morning parade through downtown fits the city perfectly: why simply wait for dinner when you can start the day with a celebration in the street?
