Bicentennial Capitol Mall: Rivers of Time, Splash Fountains and Tennessee’s Outdoor Classroom

Between the State Capitol and the Tennessee State Museum stretches Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park — 19 acres built as Tennessee’s outdoor classroom, where families walk a 2,000-foot granite wall of state history and splash in the Rivers of Tennessee fountains.

Kids trace the state on a giant granite map court, ring the 95 county bells of the Court of Three Stars carillon, and picnic on lawns with the Capitol dome on the skyline and the Nashville Farmers’ Market next door for snacks.

Ranger programs and school-holiday events keep it lively — proof that a state park can teach, cool off and celebrate a whole state, all in one free afternoon.
