Families in Los Angeles can make Hanukkah memories together at the Skirball Cultural Center, where the Hanukkah Festival returns on Sunday, December 6, from 12:00 to 5:00 pm. The museum itself is open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm that day, and the festival is presented for kids and families, with music, storytelling, food, art making, and a community candle lighting.
The afternoon is built around hands-on fun. Visitors can get creative in art making areas, watch Skirball Storytellers bring the Hanukkah story to life, explore the Light Lab and Shadow Story corner, and help build a miniature City of Light. Families can also take a spin in the Dreidel Lounge and celebrate with live klezmer music from LA’s own Mostly Kosher. As the sun sets, everyone is invited to take part in a community candle lighting ceremony.
Tickets go on sale starting Thursday, November 5 at 10:00 am. Admission is $23 for general visitors, $18 for seniors and full-time students, and $16 for children ages 2 to 17, while members and children under 2 enter free. Children must be accompanied by an adult. When advance tickets sell out, a limited number of walk-up tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis. The Skirball notes that Noah’s Ark will have limited walk-up tickets until sold out during the event, and that the Archaeology Dig will be closed. The Skirball Cultural Center is at 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049.
