Peacocks on Parade: A Family Day at the Los Angeles County Arboretum

The first thing families notice at the Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia is the welcoming committee: dozens of peacocks strutting across the lawns like they own the place – because around here, they do. Spread over 127 acres, the Arboretum mixes gardens from every continent with historic buildings, a waterfall and the shores of Baldwin Lake.

Kids love hunting for turtles and koi, crossing the jungle garden’s paths and spotting the Queen Anne Cottage from TV fame. Tram tours save little legs, family nature programs run year-round, and the sheer space to roam makes it one of the San Gabriel Valley’s happiest bargains for a full day outdoors.
