Las Vegas families looking for a hands-on weekend plan still have a chance to catch Badge Class: Climatology at Springs Preserve, held on Saturdays and Sundays in October at 2 p.m. in the DLC Sustainability Gallery Classroom, at 333 S. Valley View Blvd.
Step into the world of sunshine, storms and snow to explore what makes our climate tick. Young scientists learn how climates shape our planet and why caring for Earth’s atmosphere matters, all while earning an official Springs Preserve Climatology badge to take home.
The class is part of a year-long series that explores a different STEM discipline every month. Families can collect all 12 badges, from Geology in January and Entomology in August to Ecology in September, Climatology in October, Biology in November and Chemistry in December.
All ages are welcome, with a recommendation for ages 7 to 12. Admission is free for members or included with paid general admission, while space and supplies last. No reservations are required, but seats fill quickly, so arriving early is the best way to ensure a spot.
It is a joyful, low-stress way to turn a Saturday or Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas into a small science adventure ā and to start a badge collection the whole family can follow month after month.
