What a way to close a road trip! The Vegas Golden Knights swept their two-game Pacific Northwest swing in style, defeating the Seattle Kraken 6-2 on Tuesday night at Climate Pledge Arena and sending the traveling fans home smiling.
The Knights came out flying. Victor Olofsson opened the scoring late in the first period, and two minutes later Tomas Hertl doubled the lead on the power play. The second period was all Vegas: captain Mark Stone scored shorthanded off a beautiful feed from Jack Eichel, Olofsson struck again for his fourth goal of the young season, and Eichel added a tally of his own to make it 5-0 heading into the final frame.
Hertl and Eichel were unstoppable, each finishing with four points on the night — Hertl with two goals and two assists, Eichel with a goal and three helpers. Stone did it all, recording a Gordie Howe hat trick with a goal, an assist and a spirited fight. Goaltender Carter Hart stood tall with 25 saves and a .926 save percentage.
The victory capped a perfect trip after Sunday’s 3-2 win in Vancouver, and it extended the point streaks of Eichel and Olofsson to four games. Now sitting at 3-1-0 in Season X, the Golden Knights return to T-Mobile Arena tonight to host the Toronto Maple Leafs. The fortress awaits!
