A Slice of Local History: Pride of Philly Steaks’ Iconic Neon Sign Finds a New Home at the Neon Museum

Las Vegas just got a little more nostalgic! The Neon Museum has welcomed a beloved local landmark into its world-famous collection: the iconic “P.O.P.S.” neon sign from Pride of Philly Steaks, the family-owned cheesesteak restaurant that has fed generations of Las Vegans since 2002.

For more than 24 years, the glowing sign sat atop the restaurant’s distinctive A-frame building on Decatur Boulevard, a familiar beacon for locals and visitors alike. After a full-scale property refresh, the family decided the sign deserved a place where its story could live on — and there is no better home for a piece of Las Vegas neon than the Neon Boneyard.

“My dad opened Pride of Philly Steaks in 2002 and created the logo that became such a recognizable part of our identity,” said Christina Walton, the restaurant’s second-generation owner. “I’m honored to carry on his legacy, and proud that this piece of our family’s history will continue to live on at The Neon Museum.”

The Museum’s Executive Director, Aaron Berger, put it beautifully: the collection is about the people, businesses, and places that have shaped the city. For so many Las Vegans, signs like this one become part of the visual landscape of their lives.

The addition was celebrated with a private friends-and-family gathering — a fitting sendoff for a sign that spent two decades lighting up late-night cheesesteak runs. Now it will glow on for visitors from around the world, a shining tribute to a hometown favorite.

Planning a visit to Las Vegas? Add the Neon Museum’s Boneyard to your list — where the city’s history shines brightest after dark.
