Pinocchio Dances: Kansas City Ballet’s Family Fairytale Returns

The world’s most famous wooden boy is lacing up his ballet shoes. Kansas City Ballet’s “Pinocchio” pirouettes into the Kauffman Center February 19–21, 2027 — a full-length story ballet that turns Collodi’s tale into a swirl of color, character and heart.

From Geppetto’s workshop to the belly of the whale, the production is designed to enchant first-time ballet-goers: clear storytelling, comic sidekicks, and a score that dances as brightly as the company does. Families who started with “The Nutcracker” will find their perfect next step.

As always with this company, the craftsmanship is serious — new choreography, hand-built sets and costumes — while the spirit stays pure storybook.

Pinocchio wished to be a real boy. At the Kauffman Center, for one February weekend, he gets his wish nightly.
