One of the most thrilling film scores ever written is coming to Helzberg Hall — with the man who played it. “Interstellar Live” brings organist Roger Sayer, the original organist on Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack, together with the Kansas City Symphony for a live celebration of the music of Christopher Nolan’s space epic.
Zimmer built the score around the organ — recorded by Sayer at London’s Temple Church — and hearing that sound pour from Helzberg Hall’s mighty Casavant organ while the Symphony surges beneath it promises a concert of genuine, chest-thumping awe.
The program anchors the Symphony’s season of audience-favorite specials, the kind of night that turns moviegoers into concertgoers.
Science fiction asked how far love travels. This concert answers at about 110 decibels of glory.
