Baroque at 7:00: The Kansas City Symphony Intimate New Vivaldi Series

The Kansas City Symphony is trying something deliciously different this season: “Baroque at 7:00,” a new early-evening series in Helzberg Hall built around Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” and a Bach Brandenburg Concerto.

The concept is pure listener joy — shorter, focused programs at 7 p.m. that let the virtuosity of the Symphony’s own string players shine in the hall’s famously warm acoustics, with the night still young enough for dinner in the Crossroads afterward.

Vivaldi’s seasons remain the most beloved weather report in music, each concerto painting storms, birdsong and harvest dances; pairing them with Bach’s brilliant Brandenburg counterpoint makes a perfect Baroque double bill.

Under Music Director Michael Stern, the Symphony keeps finding fresh doors into great music. This one opens at 7:00 sharp.
