The Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium is glowing again. GloWild, its immersive nighttime lantern festival, returns October 1 through December 27, 2026, transforming zoo pathways into a walk-through wonderland of giant illuminated animals, flowers and fantasy scenes.
Families stroll at their own pace as handcrafted lanterns — some towering stories high — light up the night alongside themed zones, photo stops and seasonal treats. It is stroller-friendly, early-evening friendly and just magical enough to become a family tradition.
GloWild is a separately ticketed evening event, and the best nights sell out — book ahead, dress warm and let the kids lead the way.
Kansas City has many holiday lights, but none where a giraffe glows back at you.
