Kaleidoscope: The Free Art Studio Where Hallmark Lets Kids Create

One of Kansas City’s happiest family secrets is free: Kaleidoscope, the children’s art studio at Crown Center created by Hallmark, where kids dive into bins of ribbons, papers, foils and fabrics and make whatever their imagination orders.

Sessions run in the Family Art Studio for all ages and in the Independent Art Studio for older creators, each a joyful, glitter-adjacent free-for-all with Hallmark artists’ leftover materials — the good stuff, in every color ever invented.

Arrive early: free tickets are first-come on busy days, and weekend sessions fill with happy chaos fast. Crown Center’s shops, fountains and the Crayola experience nearby make it an easy full afternoon.

In a city built on greeting cards, Kaleidoscope is where Kansas City kids learn to make their own messages — in 3D, with extra sparkle.
