Standing Tall: Houston Botanic Garden Grows a Brand-New Texas Tree Festival for Arbor Day

Good news for tree lovers: the Houston Botanic Garden is launching a brand-new fall festival dedicated entirely to the native trees of Texas. On Sunday, November 8, 2026, the Garden introduces Standing Tall: A Texas Tree Festival, a full-day, family-friendly celebration held in connection with Texas Arbor Day, which is observed each November because autumn is the best season for planting trees in the Lone Star State.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can enjoy a kids’ zone packed with tree-themed crafts and activities, guided walks that reveal and explain the remarkable native trees across the Garden’s 132-acre site, a lively marketplace with food vendors, live entertainment, and plenty more surprises. It is the Garden’s newest addition to its six annual festivals, and it is all about celebrating the living giants that shade Houston’s trails, bayous, and backyards.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $16 for children, students, seniors, and military members; Garden members can use the free general-admission benefits of their membership level. Parking is free for daytime events, and the festival goes on rain or shine, so grab the family, bring your curiosity, and come stand tall among Texas trees.
