The Holiday Comes to Life at Jones Hall: The Beloved Romcom with Live Orchestra on Nov. 20

Grab your popcorn and your coziest holiday spirit: the Houston Symphony is turning one of the most beloved Christmas romcoms into a night you will never forget. On Friday, November 20, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., The Holiday (2006) lights up Jones Hall with its legendary Hans Zimmer score performed LIVE by the full orchestra, in perfect sync with the film on a cinema-size screen.

For many fans, The Holiday is already a must-watch every December: two women living 6,000 miles apart impulsively swap homes for Christmas and unexpectedly find love, in Nancy Meyers’ charming story starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black. Now imagine experiencing it anew, as if for the very first time, with every note of Zimmer’s unforgettable music swelling through Jones Hall in real time. It is an immersive, goosebumps-inducing way to kick off the holiday season.

The concert is part of the Nexus Health Systems Holiday Series and marks the start of the Symphony’s festive season programming. Tickets are on sale now to subscribers and donors, and open to the general public on November 18, 2026, at houstonsymphony.org, by phone or text at 713-224-7575, or in person at the Courtyard Level box office at Jones Hall. A perfect plan for date night, family night or a joyful outing with friends.

Happy City News celebrates the Houston Symphony for bringing the magic of the movies and the power of live music together in the heart of downtown Houston.
