Levy Park is one of Houston’s happiest surprises: a six-acre green tucked into Upper Kirby at 3801 Eastside Street, just south of Richmond Avenue. Donated in 1941 by investor Leon Levy, the park was completely reimagined and reopened in 2017, and today it feels less like a quiet neighborhood park and more like a small, permanent community festival in the middle of the city.
At its heart stands a sweeping performance pavilion facing a wide event lawn, where concerts, films and community programs bring neighbors together under Houston’s live oaks. Around it, activity lawns invite picnics, lawn games and outdoor table tennis, while paved walkways, game tables and plenty of seating make it easy to linger with a book, a coffee or good company.
Families head straight for the imaginative children’s play area, with its climbing structures, slide built into a hill, tunnels and water play, and there is a dedicated dog park, a community garden and a rain garden to explore as well. With free, year-round programming in wellness, the arts, education and recreation, Levy Park is an easy, joyful stop for visitors and a beloved daily habit for Houstonians.
