Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo: a Month of Family Halloween Fun Through October 31

Houston’s favorite fall tradition is back in full swing! The Houston Zoo’s Zoo Boo, presented by King & Spalding, is running now through October 31, and it promises a whole month of family-friendly thrills, chills, and pure autumn magic.

Guests can strike a pose under a 15-foot-tall fall foliage arch at Autumn Avenue, wander through Ghost Town near the John P. McGovern Children’s Zoo, and stroll a tunnel built from hundreds of glowing pumpkin lanterns. New this year: the Great Pumpkin Portrait, the Tangled Web Trail, and the Pumpkin Pitch, plus returning favorites like the Chatter Patch and the beloved talking pumpkins Gourdon and Octavius. And don’t miss the animals — all October long, the Zoo’s residents enjoy their own fall fun with pumpkins, cinnamon-scented puzzles, and seasonal treats.

As the sun goes down, Zoo Boo lights up. On select evenings — including October 16–18 and 23–30 — the Zoo stays open until 9:30 p.m. with themed nights like Wizard Night, H-Town Sports Night, and Superheroes Night. Everything is included with general admission and free for Zoo members.

There’s even a cause behind the fun: recycling old handheld devices at the Zoo’s main-entrance collection box helps protect gorillas in the wild. Grab your costume and make it a beautiful tradition — the gourd times are rolling!
