‘Home Alone in Concert’: The DSO Soundtracks a Holiday Favorite, December 9

Kevin McCallister’s Christmas adventure gets the royal treatment on Wednesday, December 9, 2026, when the Detroit Symphony Orchestra presents Home Alone in Concert at Orchestra Hall. John Williams’ mischievous, heartfelt score plays live as the beloved 1990 film screens above the stage.

Williams’ music — from the twinkling ‘Somewhere in My Memory’ to the slapstick orchestral chases — is half the movie’s magic, and hearing it from a full orchestra turns a family favorite into a genuine event. Film-in-concert nights are among the DSO’s fastest sellers, especially in December.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Avenue. Ya filthy animals: get tickets at dso.org before they’re gone.
