Andrew Bird Joins the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for One Night Only, November 17

Indie music’s favorite whistler meets the full Detroit Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, November 17, 2026 at Orchestra Hall. Andrew Bird — violinist, singer, songwriter and virtuoso whistler — brings his genre-blurring songs to the DSO’s stage for a single evening.

Bird’s lush, looping arrangements have always hinted at orchestral sweep; with ninety musicians behind him in one of America’s finest-sounding halls, expect favorites from across his catalog to bloom in new colors. The DSO’s pops and special concerts regularly sell out, and this collaboration is one of the fall’s most anticipated.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Avenue. Tickets are available at dso.org — early booking strongly recommended.
